Privacy Policy

Kids Against Crime Online, Inc., (KACO), is committed to helping make the most of your Internet experience within a trusted environment, and respects the privacy of all who visit KACO web sites, especially children.

This privacy policy discloses how we collect, protect, use and share information gathered about you on the KACO Web sites, and is the same for all of the KACO sites. We hope that this disclosure assists in enhancing your experience on the Internet.

KACO does not collect personally identifiable information without Visitors knowledge. KACO does collect personally identifiable information that you provide to us. Where Visitors provide identifiable information (e.g. as part of a Comment, Suggestion, or Contact, by using a KACO Form page) we will use it for that particular purpose.

Some KACO projects may be sponsored by commercial companies, in which these are always clearly identified on KACO web sites as such. KACO does not accept advertising on its sites. And, KACO does not provide information on individuals to these companies for any commercial or marketing purpose.

Although, KACO does track the number of Visitors to our site, including what those individuals look at, and retains aggregate statistics about this, we never look at the specific usage of our website by identifiable individuals. Industry-standard software is used to create summary statistics, for instance in assessing which information is of most or least interest to Visitors, or in helping to identify system performance, problem areas, or to determine technical design specifications.

KACO web sites do not use cookies.

KACO's Privacy Statement

KACO is the sole owner of the information it gathers on its site, and collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site. KACO will only share your information with outside parties in ways that are described in this privacy policy / privacy statement, and/or will only share this information for security reasons, if one should ever exist. We will give out personal information as required by law, for example, to comply with a court order or subpoena; to comply with statutes, regulations, or governmental requests; or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary in order to conform to the edicts of the law, such as cooperate with law enforcement agencies, or a legal process served on our Web site, or to enforce our Terms of Service, or site; or to protect the safety and security of site Visitors and our sites.

Q#1: What types of information are KACO sites collecting, and how are the sites collecting it?

Almost all services on our sites are offered without our collecting any personally identifiable information from you. You can surf KACO's Web sites and view our content anonymously without giving out any personally identifiable information.

What Information is Collected

Information You Provide

There is one area on our sites where the collection of personally identifiable information is necessary. This area is in order for you to "Contact Us", provide "Comments & Suggestions". When personally identifiable information is collected, you will know because you will have to fill out a form. KACO, does not collect your birth date, or gender. And only collects your name, and e-mail address as required fields. Also, if you choose to provide it, additional information such as city, state, zip, mailing address, phone number, and identifiable category may also be collected. The additional information is collected only when you choose to provide this information to KACO using our "Contact Us", "Comments & Suggestions" page form.

You should know that submitting information via an online form, email, and/or text communication is not necessarily secure against interception. So, if your communication includes information that you prefer not to use in an online complaint form, please contact us by postal mail rather than submitting an online form or email. If you choose to contact us by postal mail, we may also use the information you provide in the ways we have described in this privacy policy.

KACO has no provisions for the making of a purchase on any of the KACO websites, and does not collect your highly confidential information, for example, credit card information. We do not collect any other personal information other than what is listed herein.

Information Collected from You with Technology

KACO does collect ISP (Internet Service Provider) information about you using technology that may not be readily apparent to you that it is being collected, for example, the place from which you enter the Internet (ISP). This information is not personally identifiable. KACO sites use information collected through technology to make our sites more interesting and useful to Visitors.

KACO does not link IP addresses to any personally identifiable information. However, KACO reserves the right to combine this information with personally identifiable information to identify a visitor in order to enforce compliance with our Terms of Service, or to protect our service, site, Visitors, and/or others.

KACO will only share this information for security reasons, if one should ever exist. We will give out personal information as required by law, for example, to comply with a court order or subpoena; to comply with statutes, regulations, or governmental requests; to enforce our Terms of Service, or site; or to protect the safety and security of site Visitors and our sites.

Logged Files and Cookies

The KACO Web site logs browser types for systems administration purposes. These logs will be analyzed to improve the value of the materials available on the website. A user's session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous.

What Are Cookies, and Does KACO Use Them?

Cookies are pieces of information, a text file, uniquely assigned to you, that are placed on your hard disk by a Web page server, while you are viewing a Web site, to help you personalize your online experience, and as a convenience feature in order to save time. KACO does not use cookies for any purpose.

Q#2: How does KACO use the personally identifiable information that has been collected?

KACO uses personally identifiable information in a limited number of ways. KACO uses the information to contact you if you request further information, need additional contact or assistance, on the "Contact Us", "Comments & Suggestions" page form. For example, if you contact us with a question, idea, suggestion, or for additional information or assistance, we will use the information to respond and contact you. Information collected is used to enable us to respond to you, and contact you by generating and/or sending an email, telephone call, or mail response. KACO does not use the information you provide to send e-mail promotions and/or special offers from third-party sponsors.

KACO does not sell information about you.
KACO does not share your information or send you messages on behalf of another company.

Q#4: What choices do I have about KACO collecting, using, and sharing my information?

It is possible for you to use the KACO sites without giving any personally identifiable information. When you do fill out a "Comment & Suggestions" page form (or through "Contact Us") with us or give us personally identifiable information, you will have an opportunity at the time we collect your information to limit an email communication from KACO. You can request at any time that KACO not respond to you by sending you an email or otherwise, by noting so on the comments form, when you submit your comments communication.

Notification of Changes

To reflect company and Visitor feedback, KACO may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. If we make any material changes in our privacy practices that affect user information collected through our site, we will post a prominent notice on our web site notifying users of the change. The word "updated" will appear next to the Privacy Policy link on the main front page of the KACO site. Material changes to this Privacy Policy, or changes in how KACO will use your personal information, will be prominently posted prior to the implementation of the change. The importance of security for all personally identifiable information associated with our Visitors is of the utmost concern and a top priority at KACO. We have taken careful measures to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of your information.

KACO takes administrative, technical, and physical security steps to protect all visitors' information once it is received by KACO. However, you should know that submitting information via an online form, email, and/or text communication is not necessarily secure against interception. All KACO employees and volunteers are aware of our privacy and security policies. Your information is accessible to those persons who need it in order to perform their jobs.

Additionally, to ensure that this service remains available to all users, KACO Web site(s) are hosted by an outside hosting company / hosting service provider, that uses industry-standard methods to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Whose servers may be used only for lawful purposes. The hosting company / hosting service provider cannot take any responsibility for the security of communications transmitted over their facilities. And will comply fully, however, with all applicable laws concerning the privacy of KACO's on-line communications. In particular, they will not intentionally monitor or disclose any private electronic mail messages sent or received by KACO unless required to do so by law. They may, however, monitor their service electronically to determine that their facilities are operating satisfactorily. Also, they may be required to disclose information transmitted through their facilities in order to comply with court orders, statutes, regulations, or governmental requests. Finally, they may disclose information transmitted over their facilities where necessary to protect them and KACO from harm, or where such disclosure Is necessary to the proper operation of the system.

KACO does not provide for the use of credit card information on its sites.

Q#6: How do I correct, update, or delete my personal information?

If your personally identifiable information changes (i.e. such as zip code, phone, email, postal address), or if a Visitor no longer wishes to be contacted by KACO, we provide a way for you to correct, update, or delete your personally identifiable information. This can be done by using the email form on the KACO "Comments & Suggestions" page, or you may contact KACO by postal mail ("Contact Us"), at the address provided below.
